About Our Team:

At Leggett & Platt, our Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) team ensures our products meet global regulatory standards while promoting sustainability and safety. The Product Compliance group works across departments to manage chemical regulations, product certifications, and documentation programs—driving responsible innovation and ethical manufacturing.

 

In This Role: 

As a Product Compliance Intern, you’ll gain hands-on experience in regulatory research, product data analysis, and environmental documentation. This role offers the opportunity to support compliance initiatives related to REACH, RoHS, Proposition 65, and other global standards, while collaborating with a variety of departments such as Sales, Legal, Sourcing, etc.

Whether you're passionate about environmental policy, product safety, or data-driven problem solving, this internship provides a dynamic learning environment where your contributions will help ensure Leggett & Platt products meet the highest standards of safety and sustainability. Ideal for someone detail-oriented, curious, and ready to make a global impact through compliance excellence.

 

So, what will you be doing as a Product Compliance Intern?

  • Assist with compliance tracking for global regulations (REACH, RoHS, PFAS, etc.).
  • Collect supplier questionnaires and maintain regulatory databases.
  • Support documentation and testing programs for materials and products.
  • Collaborate with Legal, QA, and Sourcing on certifications and declarations.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and advise on business implications.
  • Help respond to customer inquiries and maintain training materials.
  • Perform administrative tasks and assist with special projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

  • Pursuing or completing a degree in Environmental Health and Science, International Business, Supply Chain, Regulatory Affairs, or related field.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with attention to detail and a solution-focused mindset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interface with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and executive leadership.
  • Technical curiosity and a strong desire to learn and grow in a compliance-focused environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain organized documentation.

 

Things we consider a plus:

  • Experience with global suppliers or regulatory documentation.
  • Exposure to audits, SOPs, or compliance systems.
  • Interest in sustainability or product lifecycle management.
  • Familiarity with Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
