We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Hardware Design Engineer to join ou r team , focused on developing best-in-class automot i ve connectivity systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in sys tem architecture, schematic design , and mu lt i -layer PCB layout, pa rticularly for systems inv o lving high-performance computing and wireless interfaces. The Role: The Staff Hardware Design Engineer will be responsible for the schematic design, PCB layout , function/performance validation , and issue resolution, of hardware components and systems that support Connectivity technologies across all GM vehicles and architectures. This role is tightly coupled to cross-functional teams, including vehicle integration , product managers, and system engineers, to create secure and reliable Connectivity solutions and assist in defining future technology roadmaps and resolution of issues that arise throughout development and production. What You’ll Do: Create and manage schematics, PCB layout s , and BOMs to ensure reliable and high-performance hardware design s. Design and develop complex mult i -layer PCB layouts for high-density designs, with a focus on signal integrity, power integrity , and thermal management. Collaborate with cross-functional team s to define design specifications and ensure they align with system requirements. Perform signal and power integrity analysis, including grounding, trace routing, and impedance control. Work closely with external manufacturers to ensure that designs are optimized for fabrication , assembly , and cost-efficiency . Develop test strategies and validation methods to ensure design reliability and performance of hardware designs. Manage design revisions and perform continuous improvements on existing designs. Provide technical support during prototype builds and assist in troubleshooting design-related issues. Ensure compliance with industry standards, including safety and regulatory requirements. Support selection and provide direction to CMs throughout the development process . Report to senior leaders on project status, roadblocks, and escalation requests . Additional Job Description Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications): Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related field 10 + years of experience in hardware design and testing with a focus on complex embedded and connectivity systems Expertise in high-performance computer system design , including computer system architecture, high-speed digital interfaces (e.g., PCIe, USB, Ethernet) p ower supply design and distribution . Audio interface integration (e.g., I2S, analogy digital codec) . Strong proficiency in PCB design including schematics capture and layout using industry-standard tools suc h as Mentor Graphics , Altium , Eagle, or KiCad . Hands - on Experience with hardware debugging tools such a s oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and signal generators. Solid Knowledge of embedded systems and processor architectures (ARM -based systems , etc.). Familiarity with wire less connectivity protocols ( e. g. . , B luetooth , Wi-Fi, BLE, NFC, UWB) and best practice for coexistence and de - s ense mi tigation . Excellent problem solving skills with the ability to work through complex hardware and system issues. Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple disciplines .
