Major Position Duties:
1. Because students rely on paraprofessionals to provide vital services and supports, the
primary responsibility for paraprofessionals is to have prompt daily attendance and a caring
disposition so that the major position duties can be consistently completed:
a. Behavioral supervision and support for students who demonstrate difficulties with
self-regulation and/or appropriate social skills
b. Assistance with student personal cares, including but not limited to:
i. Toileting / Diaper Changing
ii. Washing / Showering
iii. Eating / Feeding Self
iv. Transitioning between spaces or positions
v. Medical Processes such as Tube Feeding, Stretching, Positioning in
Walkers/Standers/Chairs, for which specific training has been provided
c. Individual, small group, and large group student supervision, including but not
limited to:
i. Lunchroom supervision
ii. Recess supervision
iii. Student work time supervision
iv. Student rest time supervision
v. Escorting students to and from classrooms and other school locations
d. Supports for teaching staff to ensure efficient and effective program operations,
including but not limited to:
i. Laminating materials
ii. Duplicating materials
iii. Filing materials
e. Other duties assigned by the principal or designee, such as attendance at staff
meetings, preparing and sending mail correspondence, or assisting with field trips
Qualifications / Requirements:
1. Associates Degree, 64 College Credits, or Passing Score on Approved Para Test
2. CPI Training, First Aid, and CPR Training
3. Previous experience working with students identified with developmental delays or
disabilities is preferred
4. Ability to maintain confidentiality
5. Good communication, computer, and organizational skills
6. Cooperative attitude and ability to take direction
7. Willingness to assist where needed
8. Ability to establish good working relationships and be a team player
9. Integrate language and culture
Salary and Benefit Range:
Under MSEA PARA III Salary Starting Range of $21.39-$22.07 based on experience
(maximum of 3 years’ experience credit given). Benefits per MSEA Master Agreement
including paid time off, life and long-term disability insurance. Low-cost short-term
disability, accident, additional life, health, and dental insurance options available.
