Job Title Lead Engineer Job Description Summary Responsible for ensuring the proper, efficient operations and maintenance of the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems for the assigned facility. Develops and performs all necessary maintenance and operational tasks to maximize the lifespan and reliability of these systems. This position may operate independently without a Chief Engineer on-site and may include supervising maintenance staff depending on the facility's size and complexity. Job Responsibilities Assist with or conduct daily operations and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, along with general building maintenance. Supervise maintenance staff when applicable, assigning and monitoring activities and projects. Perform preventive maintenance, including filter changes, motor lubrication, lamp and fixture replacements, belt inspections, motor bearing replacements, shaft alignments, and other manufacturer-recommended tasks. Recommend ongoing improvements to the preventive maintenance program. Develop and maintain effective building-specific maintenance procedures. Coordinate maintenance efforts with outside contractors and technicians. Maintain stock and inventory control. Respond promptly to emergencies such as fires, evacuations, equipment failures, and customer concerns. Comply with all relevant codes, regulations, and safety practices. Keep management informed through monthly reports on building operations. Complete all required safety training and adhere to uniform dress codes, maintaining a neat appearance. Minimum of 5+ years of related trade experience in operating building systems. Relevant licenses or permits, such as Journeyman or Master Electrician, City Licenses, Operators License, Steam Engineers License. EPA Section 608 Universal certification for refrigerants. Valid driver’s license with a good driving record. Basic computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word). Experience with HVAC, boilers, pumps, refrigerant systems, and energy management systems. Work Environment & Physical Demands This role operates in a professional office environment with travel between properties. Physical demands include lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing, crouching, reaching, and extended periods of shift work, including emergency response and overtime.
