Immigration Legal Assistant

Compensation $60-$70K DOE

Our well-known boutique immigration law firm needs to hire a junior Family Law Immigration Legal Assistant with 1+ years of experience in family law immigration-based work. Candidates must have immigration experience to be considered for this position and have excellent research, written and oral communication skills. Candidates should also be self-motivated, a quick learner and be able to clearly communicate with clients in a confident knowledgeable manner. This position requires you to be in the office 5 days and the hours are 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Additional Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree;

• Excellent Research, Reading and Writing Skills;

• Flexibility to work as deadlines require;

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 and Outlook;

• Understanding of various US business-related immigration categories and filing procedures; and

• Willingness to adopt new practice management technologies.

Job Duties:

• Assist attorneys with immigration cases, including H-1B, L-1, O-1, E-2, PERM, Employment-based and Family-based immigrant petitions, U.S. permanent residence and Naturalization;

• Prepare cases to be filed with USCIS [obtain required documentation, prepare immigration forms on behalf of clients (Cerenade/eImmigration), draft supporting statements for review by attorneys, review and finalize cases for submission to USCIS];

• Prepare e-mails to clients, US DOL, US DOS and USCIS on behalf of attorneys;

• Work with corporate/individual clients on basic document assembly matters;

• Prepare approval packages to be sent to clients;

• Open case files and keep case files organized and maintain/monitor various logs;

• Monitor the Firm's virtual receptionist service; open and distribute mail, Federal Express, UPS and hand delivery packages; and

• Filing, including scanning old files for shredding.
