Job Description

POSITION

Chief Executive Officer

COMPANY

A new private equity-sponsored holding company focused on industrial mechanical services. The platform has been established through the acquisition of two founder-owned companies and has a robust acquisition pipeline.

OVERVIEW

The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for the company's full profit and loss. He/she serves as the strategic leader for the organization and, in conjunction with the private equity sponsor, works to achieve the overall vision and mission for the company. The CEO coordinates strategic initiatives and objectives that ensure the company’s financial health.

Specific duties will include, but not necessarily be limited to:

  • Lead all aspects of the company’s strategic growth plan, including organic growth and working with the private equity sponsor and founding owners on the identification, execution, and integration of add-on acquisitions.
  • Provide operational leadership, support, and professional development to the management team, including assessing existing talent and recruiting high-level management personnel.
  • Develop and nurture internal and external working relationships that are key to the company’s success, including current and prospective customers.
  • Develop and lead strategic initiatives and special projects that further the company’s growth, including the identification of new business opportunities and service offerings.
  • Develop management protocols and processes to effectively serve customers, engage team members, and achieve key business objectives.
  • Regularly interface with the board of directors and private equity sponsor for update calls, strategy discussions, and board meetings.
  • Interface with the company’s lenders to discuss strategy and rationale for any prospective add-on acquisitions.
  • Serve as an active participant in steps toward a future exit process, including leading management presentations and coaching key team members to achieve optimal returns.

OPPORTUNITY

The company operates in a large, highly fragmented industry that is ripe for consolidation. The private equity sponsor has set out to build a world-class industrial services company and is pursuing an aggressive acquisition strategy, entailing a strong integration plan with the CEO, helping to vet proprietary investment opportunities that fit the broader investment thesis.

The new CEO will also help develop and expand upon the current investment strategy with the goal of reaching critical mass during the ownership period.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Prior experience as a general manager with full P&L responsibility, preferably as CEO of a fast-paced, private equity-backed company that has successfully executed a roll-up strategy in a fragmented industry.
  • Experience leading a multisite commercial/field services business; experience in the mechanical services industry is a plus.
  • Experience leading growth in a recurring revenue business.
  • A proven track record of successful acquisition experience, especially integrating smaller founder-led companies.
  • Experience establishing effective management protocols in a growing business.
  • Collaborative leadership style with the ability to inspire others and lead by example.
  • Experience managing banking relationships
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with a strong drive to achieve results.
  • Integrity and ethics beyond reproach.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA a plus.
